The end-to-end flow
Create your account
Sign up with your email and password, or continue with Google or Apple. After submitting your email, you’ll receive a verification link — click it to confirm your address before signing in for the first time. See Sign up for the full walkthrough.
Complete identity verification
Before you can join or host games, you work through a five-step verification checklist: legal name, date of birth, phone verification (OTP), GPS home-address verification, and display name. Phone verification is the minimum needed to join a game. All five steps are required to host. See Verification for details on each step.
Set your preferences
On your first login you land on the Welcome/onboarding page. Pick your sport and game categories, select individual sports within those categories, choose your preferred city and state, and set your search radius (5–100 miles). Optionally, write a short intro blurb and opt in to the new-members spotlight. See Set preferences.
Browse games near you
Your feed shows upcoming games within your preferred radius, filtered to the sports you selected. Each listing shows the sport, host, location, date, player count, skill level, and whether spots are still available.
Request to join or join instantly
Tap a game to see its details and request a spot. Depending on how the host configured the game, your request may be auto-approved or held for host review. If the game is full, you land on the waitlist automatically and get notified if a spot opens.
Play
Show up at the listed location and time. If you’re running late or can’t make it, update your RSVP so the host and waitlisted players can adjust.

Games
A game is a single scheduled session created by a host. Each game has a sport or game type, a date and time, a location, a player limit, and an approval mode (open or host-reviewed). Games can be public or private (invite-only).
Hosts
Hosts
A host is any fully verified member who creates a game listing. Hosts set the rules, approve or decline player requests, manage the waitlist, and are responsible for the experience. Hosting requires completing all five verification steps.
Players
Players
Players are verified members who request to join a game. Joining requires completing at minimum phone verification (step 3 of the verification checklist).

Verification is a five-step identity checklist every member completes to build trust on the platform. The steps are: legal name, date of birth, phone number (OTP), GPS home-address verification, and display name. Each step unlocks additional platform capabilities.

Approval workflow
When you request to join a game, the host can configure one of two modes. In open mode, your request is approved automatically as long as there’s a spot. In reviewed mode, the host manually approves or declines each request.
Waitlist
Waitlist
If a game is full when you request to join, you’re added to the waitlist. Witt & Play notifies you automatically if an approved player drops out and your spot opens up.
Private games
Private games
A host can mark a game as private. Private games don’t appear in the public feed — players join using a unique invite link or join code shared directly by the host.
